Smoke Alarm Installation & Testing

Smoke alarms give the people in your house time to safely evacuate the property in case of a fire.

In Victoria smoke alarms are compulsory in all homes.  It is important to use a professional to install smoke alarms as there are important considerations to make:

Replacement

Smoke alarms have a limited life and must be replaced every 10 years or sooner.  Mepstead Electrical can replace your existing smoke alarms, and ensure they are in the best position and the correct type.

Testing & Maintenance

Smoke alarms contain a battery backup which must be replaced regularly, and must be tested every month by using the built in test feature.  

In addition to this you should have your smoke alarms professionally tested and reviewed every 12 months.  We perform thorough tests on all of your smoke alarms, and are qualified to test and install the various types of smoke alarms available (ionisation smoke alarms, photoelectric smoke alarms etc).
